The House of the Black Madonna is the first Cubist building in Prague. It was built in 1912 by the prominent Czech architect Pavel Janák, who designed both the facade and the interiors full of unique design.

On the portal of the house, there is a wooden statue of the Madonna from the 17th century after which the house got its name. Not only this is proof of how beautifully two typical Czech styles—Baroque and Cubism—fit together in Prague.

In the house, you can visit the unique exhibition of Czech Cubist design, which is managed by the Museum of Arts and Industry in Prague, or go to the Orient café, which boasts a period interior.

You can also book a guided tour not only of the exhibition but also take a guided walk in the footsteps of Prague’s Cubist architecture outside the center.
