Named after the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Sarajevo ‘84 is a ćevabdžinica, a traditional Bosnian barbecue restaurant located in Piran, Slovenia. Tucked along Piran’s lively seafront, Sarajevo ‘84 is just a short walk from Piran’s main square, Tartini Square, and port. The laid back, table-service restaurant is the perfect place to sample delicious Bosnian and Balkan dishes.

The must-try dish here is ćevapi or ćevapčići (ground beef and lamb shaped into what look like small sausages) in lepinja (flatbread) with kajmak (Balkan-style clotted cream). The restaurant also serves delicious sarmica (stuffed cabbage leaves), Bosnian coffee, and the Bosnian dessert tufahija (poached stuffed apples).

The idea for the restaurant began with a family trip to Sarajevo, where the owners fell in love with the city and its food. The idea quickly emerged to use the restaurant to celebrate one of Sarajevo’s most well-known events, the 1984 Winter Olympic Games. The restaurant is full of memorabilia and mementos from the Olympics, celebrating a moment when the world put aside its differences and came together to witness feats of athleticism.
