Originally constructed as a fur trading post, the LeBer-LeMoyne House is the oldest complete building in Montreal. The house was constructed for Jacques LeBer and Charles LeMoyne, who were big players in the fur industry when Canada was still under French authority. The house now operates as a free museum. The first floor has been restored to its original decor, while the second floor contains many historical artifacts from the house’s robust history.

Located in Lachine, the LeBer-LeMoyne House is a nice place to get away from the bustle of the city to relax. After visiting, you can also take a long walk through Rene-Levesque Parc, enjoy the water, and observe the many sculptures throughout the park.

Know Before You Go

The house is most easily accessible by car. The closest bus stop is a 15-minute walk away.
