I've written extensively on Aboriginal languages, visual art and film, plus humour studies. In addition I've written extensively about Asian art, as well as working as the Australian editor for Asian Art News and World Sculpture News. Further to this, I've published articles extending across anthropology, literature, education and in other areas too. Over the years I've worked as an academic in Australia, and elsewhere in the world, including working as the Professor of Australian Studies at the University of Tokyo 2004-2005. Earlier in my career I worked as a linguist at Lajamanu, a Warlpiri (an Aboriginal group) town in the remote Tanami Desert of the Northern Territory in Australia, where I lived and worked for more than a decade.
I'm also politically active ref. feminism and the urgent need to address climate change (predominantly in Australia but I also understand the need to address it as a global challenge].
Currently I live in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, and have extensively travelled the globe.
